What is 3D Casting?

3D Casting is the process of creating a three-dimensional copy of a living human body part (hands and feet). The sculpture made through 3D Casting captures the minutest details as small as fingerprints, skin wrinkles and folds. These sculptures can be so pleasing to gaze that they can be admired and cherished for years to come.

Why 3D Casting is so special?

A 3D Casting captures the memories like no other art form. And because they are three dimensional they can be touched and viewed from all angles unlike a photography, or a painting.

Where can I get 3D Casting done?

Our 3D Casting Studio is based in Alkapuri, Vadodara where we offer our professional casting services. We are also delighted to offer home visits (at an extra charge) which is particularly beneficial for new moms and babies, or those unable to travel.

Can I get a casting done out of Vadodara city?

Our team can visit your city outside Vadodara for offering 3D Casting service at an extra charge to cover our travelling expense. The more the number of castings you would like to have, the travelling cost will get divided. Feel free to call us and discuss your requirements and will be happy to assist you.

What is the right age of getting a Hand/Foot Casting?

Our Casting service range from hands & feet of new born baby, children, siblings, adults, couples, elderly parents/grandparents, guruji, family, friends, pet paws and other creative projects. There is no minimum or maximum age of doing a 3D Casting. We can do baby castings within a week of your new little arrival being born.

What goes into 3D Casting process?

A 3D Casting is done by using a skin safe jelly-like solution in which your hand/foot is dipped for few short minutes to make the mould and then after removing your hand/foot, we use high strength casting powder to create the replica. The 3D Casting process unveils an incredibly precise and detailed sculpture which will then be finished to your taste giving you different colour and display options.

What kind of material is used in 3D Casting process?

The moulding powder used for taking hand/feet impressions is a water based product made from natural seaweed, which is biodegradable and non-toxic. This makes it completely skin safe for infants, kids as well as adults of any age. Although we cannot make a guarantee against reactions (nor can anyone else with any type of product), there are no known reports of an allergic reaction to the material. We thereby always take a patch test on your child’s foot to make sure everything goes well.

Note: The moulding powder is the only substance that comes in contact with your child while making the mould. The child is not required for the remainder of the process.

What if my baby moves during the 3D Casting?

We suggest that the baby is well fed and at rest in the comfort of his/her mother’s lap while taking the casting. We can try a few methods to relax your baby before we take the cast. If your baby wiggles a little then that is fine as it helps to take the impressions deeply. However, if the casting is unsuccessful, then another one can be taken free of charge.

How does my child’s hand/foot come out of the mold?

Although the mould is very firm, it is also very flexible and slippery inside. As a child’s hand is also flexible, his or her hand/foot slips out of the mould cleanly with just a slight wiggle and gentle pull, without causing any pain.

What finishes can I choose from?

We have a variety of metallic like finishes such as Copper, Brass, Silver & Gold. All are equally beautiful. You can also choose from our various framing and mounting options to make your casting uniquely yours. We can be as creative as you wish by adding props to enhance the theme. How do I get a 3D Casting from Dream Gifts?

3D Castings are done by prior appointment by our professional team at our Vadodara studio or at the comfort of your home. Appointments can be booked via our contact us page. Once we receive your interest, we will call you to confirm your requirements, availability and location.

How long does the casting session take?

This varies on the size of the casting. The moulding mix can take only a few short minutes to set before you can remove your hand or foot, larger castings will involve a slightly different process and will take slightly longer. All in all, cast sittings can be between 25-45 minutes. After this, the rest of the casting process is carried at our studio.

How long does it take to get the finished product?

It can take up to 1-2 weeks for the cast to dry, during this time we work on your cast to make sure that every little detail is perfect. Once the cast has dried, we can then go ahead and finish off with the metal finishes, mounting or framing. All together we expect your cast to be ready within 4 weeks. We will notify you when your cast is ready for collection.

Can I have additional copies of my 3D Castings?

Each cast is produced from an original mould that can only be used once to produce one single cast. So if you want additional casts, we need to know prior to or at the time of the casting session, as we will need to take additional moulds then.

What are your charges?

The charge depend on the number of impressions, size of the cast and the display concept you like to opt for. You can check our standard charges on our respective product page. For more customization, please get in touch with us with your requirements and we will work out the best rate for you.

How do I pay?

You can choose to pay online via our website (100% secured) or by cash prior to the casting session. For castings within Vadodara city, 50% payment is taken at the time of your casting and other 50% is collected at the time of delivery of your final cast. For castings outside Vadodara, 100% payment is collected at the time of booking the order.

What if I am not happy with my castings?

No problem at all. We should be able to tell fairly quickly if the casting has been unsuccessful and we will do another one free of charge. If you are unhappy with your finished cast, please let us know so we can help. We want you to be 100% happy with our service and your casting.

What if I cancel after the mould has been taken?

If the mould is already taken and the raw material has been used, the advance collected will not be refunded or adjusted as sufficient time and material has been utilised to get your order arranged.

FAQ – 3D Casting Kits

What is the overall moulding and casting procedure?

All of our life casting kits have easy step-by-step instructions. Here are the general steps:

• Mix the moulding powder with water and mix. Insert the hand or foot into the moulding material. You will see it changing from yellow to red colour and back to yellow colour, which shows the mould has set.
• Wiggle the hand or foot out of the moulding material after it has set.
• Mix the casting powder with water. Pour the casting mixture into the mould. Let the casting stone harden for at least 1 hour.
• Tear open the mould, remove the cast and enjoy your creation.
• Allow the cast to dry for some days and then paint.

What kind of material is used in this process? Is it safe for my child?

The moulding powder is the only substance that will come in contact with your child while making the mould. It is used for taking hand/foot impressions and it is a water based product made from natural seaweed, which is biodegradable and non-toxic. This makes it completely skin safe for infants, kids as well as adults of any age.

Although we cannot make a guarantee against reactions (nor can anyone else with any type of product), there are no known reports of an allergic reaction to the material. We provide a trial pack with every casting kit, which can be used to do a patch test on your child’s skin to make sure it is safe.

What if my child wiggles or moves during the 3D moulding process?

As long as the hand/foot remains submerged within and completely covered by the moulding material during the setting process, the foot/hand can be allowed to wiggle freely within the material without affecting the final mould.

During the 5-10 second setting window near the end of the process, strong movements (more than a baby’s natural wiggling) can distort the mould. Therefore, even though some wiggling is okay and even preferred, the best advice is to wait until baby is in a good mood, is fed and relaxed, or even asleep before making the mould. Overall, we strongly recommend 2 adults to be available to complete the moulding process; one to attend the child and one to read instructions and prepare the mould.

How do I get my child’s hand out of the mould?

Although the mould is very strong and firm, it is also very flexible and slippery inside. Because your child’s hand is also flexible, his or her hand will slip out of the mould cleanly with just a slight wiggle and gentle pull.

Is the mould reusable?

Only one sculpture can be made from each mould taken. Casting powder is poured into each mould, and these moulds are then carefully peeled away to reveal your sculpture inside.

What are your Refund & Return policy for 3d Casting Kits?

Note: Refunds are made at the discretion of Dream Gifts management. Refunds will only be done to the same payment method and the same card as shown on the original purchase receipt.

I no longer want my order…

If you decide after purchase that you no longer want your products and wish to cancel your order, we will not be able to refund your payment, as the orders are processed on real time basis to ensure a speedy delivery. Refunds are made at the discretion of Dream Gifts, to the payment method shown on purchase receipt.

My parcel or items are damaged…

All items pass a thorough quality check before dispatch, to ensure satisfaction. If your item arrives damaged, please notify Dream Gifts within 2 days, so we can raise a claim with our courier, and arrange replacements where necessary. Dream Gifts will ask for digital photographs/video of your item while opening the package, so we can understand any damage/fault/defect. In such circumstances, you may be eligible for a new product replacement with same product features but not a refund.

In this instance, you must return the parcel to us in exactly the state in which you received them within 14 days of receipt. Postage and delivery costs for sending the item will be refunded to you. Using a recorded delivery service is recommended, for the buyer’s protection.

Once your package is received by us, we will process a new replacement order to you (with same product features) at no extra cost.

My casts did come out well…

The fully guided casting booklets included within your kit will take you through the entire casting process and these are the same steps that our staff follow when casting. The booklet is designed to give you the best step by step support to help you achieve great results. Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for failed casts. We do offer refill materials for you to try again and these can be located within our online shop.

My item was discounted when bought…

If you are returning an item that was discounted at the time of purchasing and are eligible for a refund under the terms above, you will be refunded for the item value on your sales invoice.

How do I stick my mementos/keepsakes in the Memory Box?

The memory box is easy to open from the back and is great for pasting your keepsakes. You can use a glue gun to paste any three dimensional items with thickness up to 3 inches on the backdrop of the box. You can then decorate the vacant space with craft material, using your creativity. Once the glue dries, you can cover up the box and mount it on the wall using attached hanger on the back.

What sizes and shapes of Memory Box can I choose from?

You can choose to get Memory Box in 1, 2 or 3 windows depending on the number & size of your keepsakes. You can select multiple windows if you have more items to paste.
